Mehlam Shakir, Managing Director, Dreamit Ventures
As the Managing Director of Dreamit’s Securetech program Mel’s job involves working with cybersecurity startups from around the world to realize their full potential – refining their positioning and go-to-market strategy, scaling their sales operations and mapping out their capital needs. Mel is a recognized leader in cybersecurity and SIEM technology. Prior to joining Dreamit, Mel spent the prior 20 years developing and bringing innovative cybersecurity solutions to market.
Mel was the CTO of Incache, a database security solution, which he founded in 2004 that culminated in an acquisition first by RippleTech and later by NitroSecurity (where he served as CTO) and finally McAfee. More recently, Mel served as Director of Product Management at RSA Netwitness and SVP of Product Development at Securonix where he was responsible for the development and go-to-market strategy for the Next Generation Cloud SIEM solution.
Mel received a MS in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
