Devika Perera
Devika Perera started her career in Textile Industry and Sustainability has always been her passion. Currently, She is responsible for driving overall Sustainable Development Strategies to the country including Manufacturing and Retail Activities. She started her career in the Sustainable pathway as a compliance auditor and then an Environmental auditor. Soon she started a carbon footprint consultant in the need of aligning our suppliers with Climate actions.
Role & Responsibilities
Internally
- Lead & manage Decathlon Sri Lanka Sustainable Development Strategy under People & Planet
- To Train & coach the skill of the employees for Sustainable Development
- Build the Network & Human Organization for Sustainable Development
- Validate new Auditors for Compliance, Environment Management & Carbon Emission
Externally with Vendors
- Manage and conduct Compliance Audits
- Manage and conduct Environment Audits
- Train suppliers on H&S, Environment Management System
- Guide Suppliers on developing their Sustainable Development Strategies/Road Maps for the companies, validate and review.
- Train Suppliers on Climate Change, CO2 Reduction Calculation, Achieving Science Based Targets and Energy Efficiency Initiatives
- Validate Suppliers’ Science-Based Targets to achieve a 1.5’C Temperature increase by 2026 aligning with the Paris agreement
- Guide Suppliers to for Sustainable Raw Materials such as FSC paper, Recycled polyester, BCI cotton etc
Sustainable Development in Decathlon SRILANKA consists of three main strategies namely People, Planets and Economic Performance. Under Planet my main focuses are Climate change and Circular Economy. Getting all our suppliers to commit for SBTI is one of our priorities and then to go for RE100 with partner Suppliers and not only that but also to plan our suppliers to exit from coal. These are just few strategies among many. We also have a specific timeline to achieve these goals. We also have sustainable RM projects like making fabric using ocean waste.
