Are you tired of all the surrounding negativity?
Are you wondering how to keep yourself positive in the middle of all this chaos?
Do you want to be a game-changer and turn all this around, at least in your own life?
It is easier said than done…
The last few weeks have been disturbing…
The change of city, adapting to the new life, the devastating happenings back in India… It was as if everything has suddenly come to a standstill….
The place I was living one month back is now a critical containment zone…
Every day I’m receiving messages from friends and relatives that either they are tested positive for COVID -19 or they have lost their loved ones to this deadly virus…
Everyone is silently fighting their battle, most of the time alone….
I was feeling lost and I was trying to find a way to come out of this depressing feeling…
As I sat down and reflected on how we spent our time during the lockdown in March 2020, I realised that at that time, the lockdown came as a blessing to most of us… It was more like a much-awaited break… We were all so busy with our lives and suddenly we got a lot of time to spend with family and kids, to relax, to watch movies, read books and also to sleep as much as we wanted. We also were excited to learn new technology and also new online platforms like Zoom. It was a new world that opened up.
But in one year, life has changed. It is chaos all around. It is as if our country has become the epicentre of COVID-19 and everyone’s attention was suddenly on India. I started receiving messages from around the world saying that they are praying for India. We are hearing devastating stories from friends and relatives on how people are losing their lives because of the non-availability of ICU beds and proper medical care, hospitals are running to their capacity, no ambulances available, oxygen shortage and crematoriums full… Many of our friends and relatives were affected, and I was feeling helpless….I know many of us are feeling the same…
I started thinking about how to reboot myself… I started reading about people who changed the world in one way or other, so that
I could get some inspiration… and as I was reading, I felt I should share it with others..
There are people who are struggling to get out of all the negativity around them so that they will be able to help others more effectively…
There are people who are finding it difficult to shift their thoughts from their personal losses to their businesses.
There are people who feel guilty to think of building their brands when many of their fellow beings are suffering…
But the pandemic will end one day and will we be ready to accept the opportunities the future is going to bring? It’s time we shift our focus to our future. Let us look at the current situation and how to change the game in the coming days through the eyes of these achievers…
1. The First thing to remember is that we all are in this together. When we see someone in pain, let us be compassionate enough to check in with them how they are doing, at least through a call or a message. Let us try to help others as much as we can and while doing this, let us also try to inspire others to do the same. Every action we do creates ripples, which very soon becomes a chain reaction.
“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you” ~Ruth Bader Ginsburg
2. COVID-19 has affected all of us, in one way or other. We all have seen the real grave face of this pandemic. Many have lost their loved ones, but always remember to turn your wounds into wisdom. Try to educate others, inspire others, and support others while staying safe yourselves.
“Turn your wounds into wisdom” ~ Oprah Winfrey
3. We are all staying home trying to be safe, but are you really safe? This is the time to think about our future. Many may say that future is unpredictable, but someday either the pandemic will end or we may have to adapt to the New Normal. So every day, try to remember what this game-changer has taught us…
“If today was the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” ~ Steve Jobs
4. The pandemic has made many of us think negatively. We may find that many of our friends are harbingers of bad news every day. Even a business meeting starts with talks about the current situation of COVID, the latest update about the number of deaths, the ineffectiveness of the government in handling the situation, and sometimes we may feel like ending the conversation. But always remember to treat people nicely, because we don’t know the battles they are fighting inside their heads….
“Don’t treat people as bad as they are, treat them as good as you are” ~ Mother Teresa
5. Always be unhappy with the status quo. Always be tired of giving in. During the pandemic, we saw a lot of injustices happening in the world, especially with women and girls. Many women lost their jobs, we saw the rise of something called the shadow pandemic; we saw violence happening to women at the hands of men they know, a lot of girls have been molested and raped… Let us understand that we need to take action to change this situation.
“People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn’t true. The only tired I was, was tired of giving in…” ~Rosa Parks
6. We may feel that we do not have time to think about our future or it is too late to start learning again. But all of us have 24-hours and 24-hours is a very long time. The only thing we need to understand is, how to manage our time efficiently.
“It is not that we have a short space of time but that we waste much of it. Life is long enough” ~ Seneca
7. The pandemic has opened up immense possibilities and also has shown how easy it is to connect with people across the globe. It is high time we think big and aim to develop ourselves as global brands.
“To be successful in business and life, spot the possibilities while others look for problems” ~ Robin Sharma
8. When you think big, the first thing which comes to our mind is that it looks impossible. If you look at every magnificent monument, every great literary work, every great painting, you can see that initially these too looked impossible. But if we have a dream and the right mental attitude to pursue that dream, we can make the impossible, possible.
“It always seems impossible until it is done” ~ Nelson Mandela
9. Once we identify our dream, we need to find people who will support us in our journey. They can be mentors, they can be our friends or they can be anyone who inspires us to achieve more. It is said that we can predict our future by seeing who our friends are. If you want to achieve the impossible, be with the dreamers and achievers and with people who force you to level up.
“Surround yourself with people who challenge you, teach you and push you to be your best self” ~ Bill Gates
10. And once you identify such a group of people, get ready to hustle. Work hard in up skilling and developing yourself. Don’t stop until the time you feel proud of yourself.
Very soon, you will be in the top list of these game-changers.
“Arise, Awake and Stop not, till the goal is reached” ` Swami Vivekananda
So are you ready to be a game-changer?
