    Musambya Mutambala is a research fellow with more than ten years of experience at the Science, technology and innovation policy research organization (STIPRO). He also worked for UNIDO as a national researcher, and served as a legal entity appointed representative (LEAR) supervising the “Integrated aquaculture based on sustainable water recirculating system for the Lake Victoria” (VicInAqua), a project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Musambya holds a master’s degree in development studies, and is currently pursuing his PhD programme, focusing on “local content in the gas supply chain: a study of technological capability building among small and medium enterprises”. He has an intensive training in management of innovation and technology, and innovation policy for developing countries.
    As part of the Southern Voice network, Musambya stresses in some of his works, the need for countries of the Global South to promote science, technology and innovation (STI) as indispensable for achieving SDGs. The new research he will be discussing looks at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food security in communities dependent on the fishing industry.
