    Operation Director, AWIA - AFRICAN WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE

    She holds a qualification as Commercial and Financial Accountant (CFA.SA) and a perm culturist, fish breeder, hydroponics and aquaponics farmer.

    Sibongile Cele’s experience in the corporate world started at the Deloitte and Touche in 1992 where she trained as accountant and an auditor. This is where Sibongile developed her interpersonal skills with clients and the acquired business management skills she later moved to Kwenta Media as the financial manager for the Mamas & Papas magazine
    BUSINESS
    In 2013 she ventured into her own group of companies with diverse business activities in agribusiness, mining, petroleum, banking and insurance brokerage, construction and building supply, brick manufacturing called the Mcebo Group in which she is the founder and chairperson of the group. She is the founder member of the African women in Agriculture (AWIA) NPC and NPO.

    SOCAL IMPACT
    Sibongile is also a rooftop hydroponics farmer and has established a seed bank with a focus on heritage seeds and she is currently working on the “Umhlonyana Drive” the plan is to have communities planting one tree per household.

    I train women and youth on smart farming and organic farming at my Mcebo fresh veggie rooftop farm in the inner city of Johannesburg encouraging them to start food garden in their communities and donated indigenous seeds from my Mcebo Seed Bank.

    We have started an Non-Profit Organisation with the 4 other women called AWIA (Africa Women in Agriculture) https://www.linkedin.com/company/african-women-in-agriculture-awia/- where we dorm a AWIA-Lwazi Agriprenuers Incubator where are I am an incubator manager we train young women on organic and hydroponics and business skills to start their own agricultural business and do community food gardens projects in the schools where they come from in Soweto and Johannesburg South.
