Pooja Bhatia, MBA, CLP, RTTP, is the Ex-Chief Manager, Innovation-Technology Transfer Office (i-TTO) of the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) in New Delhi, India. Ms. Bhatia heads the i-TTO, a regional tech transfer office set up at FITT in March 2020 with support from the National Biopharma Mission, a joint project of the Government of India and World Bank, with the mandate to cater to academia, startups and incubation centers. Her work entails innovation management, technology transfer, marketing, strategic partnership, industry engagement and policy development.
She has over 15 years of professional experience in intellectual property, licensing, collaborations, and policy framing. She has received her Master’s of Science in Biotechnology at the University of Rajasthan and her Masters of Business Administration (Technology Management) from the National Law University, Jodhpur. She is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional, a Certified Licensing Professional and a registered Patent agent with the Indian Patent Office. Pooja has been included in the list of Powerful Women in IP India 2021, awarded as Global Women in Leadership 2021 and runner up to Women Power Impact Creator 2021. She aims to simplify the technology transfer processes and increase awareness on how innovation can contribute to sustainability. She also believes in “together we can make the difference”.
i-TTO contributes to sustainable development by providing services to the important stakeholders of the innovation ecosystem, enabling them to effectively use the intellectual property system to create, protect and promote innovations. Even though SGD 9 is the core of our mission to support the innovation ecosystem by providing enabling platform for IP protection, we are indirectly also playing a role for SGD 2,3,6,7,8,11 and 13 as innovation is essential to achieve these SGDs. i-TTO facilitates effective management of IP which strengths the stakeholders with the ability to generate economically valuable IP assets.
I have assisted with drafting and filing of 100+ patent applications, transferred 65+ technologies, headed and managed teams to handle 900+ patents portfolio. Currently i am managing a tech transfer office to ensure its sustainability and contributing in creation and valorization of the intellectual assets. Empathy is my strongest point which enables me to connect with people.

How will you demonstrate your commitment to support in achieving short- and/or long-term global alliances’ goals?
Innovation is one aspect that connects all the SDGs and can assist with the betterment of lives, livability and ecosystems. Through my experience and expertise, I will be in a position to facilitate access to innovative solutions contributing to the SDGs and in framing policies enhancing the innovation levels. I have few idea on increasing visibility to such solutions and increase involvement of women in the process.
