Every year on June 27th, Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Day is celebrated to honour their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for up to 90% of businesses, 60% to 70% of employment, and they account for half of global GDP, according to the United Nations (UN).
The Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade is an organization based in India, South Africa, USA, UK, UAE, Europe and Singapore with board & council member representation across the world. We in association with Tusumpule Business Consultancy will be celebrating WORLD MSME DAY on 27th June’2023 at Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka, Zambia.
This year, we are celebrating the day with global perspectives from various departments, ministries, chambers of commerce and international organizations. We believe that global perspectives have a significant impact on paving the way to the future. “Zambia’s government has prioritised the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country as they fuel economic growth. SMEs make up around 97% of all businesses and contribute 70% of Zambia’s GDP“, says SME Development Minister, Elias Mubanga.
World MSME Day is an important opportunity to look at this topical issue in a very practical and policy-oriented way in the global context of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Here, we ask the rest of the world to work together to help MSMEs get through the current crisis and build up their ability to handle future shocks. We encourage GCPIT Members to create an open, fair, non-discriminatory, and predictable global trade and business environment that helps and encourages MSMEs to participate in international trade and business.
Tusumpule Business Consultancy is excited to pioneer the recognition of World MSME Day in Zambia. Our upcoming event, held on June 27th at Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka, aims to bring together government, private sector, and NGOs with a strategic focus on MSME development. We want to create awareness about the support available from these entities and advocate for supplier inclusion in the government supply chain.
The long-term goal of the event is to foster innovation and create specialized products that provide upfront cash flow to MSMEs, enabling them to serve high-value contracts. With the presence of the Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade (GCPIT) in Zambia, we see immense opportunities for MSMEs, such as industry clusters, export finance, and access to infrastructure like shared factories and machinery for various manufacturing processes, including quality packaging. Tusumpule serves as the local conduit to access these global resources.
