Syed has more than 30 years of strategic leadership experience in ESG/Sustainability, Engineering, Facilities Management, Asset Management and Business development in Asia across multiple business sectors- hospitality, corporate real estate, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, institutional and healthcare.
Syed currently the Vice President at EPS Singapore to oversee the Sustainability and Technology related businesses and project management. Key focus areas are ESG/Sustainability, Digital Transformation, Decarbonization, Training, Mentoring and Deep Tech development to commercialization.
Syed was the Executive Director at Sands China, provides strategic and operational leadership in managing team on environmental and engineering activities for 35 million sq.ft of integrated resorts with 13,000 hotel rooms, casino, shopping malls, 15,000 seat Arena, 2.1 million sq.ft MICE, 1,800 seat luxury Theatre, etc. He pivoted the execution of sustainable development goals (SDGs), sustainability reporting (ESG) as well as rating systems like DJSI, Sustainalytics, Bloomberg ESG, CUHK BSI, FTSE4Good, etc
He played key role in design and implementation of 250+ energy and water efficiency and renewable energy projects across Asia to deliver 250 million kWh energy reduction, 200,000 MTCO2e Carbon Reduction, 300+ million gallons of water savings annually. Initiated more than 100+ stakeholder engagement programs resulted in 300,000+ green actions towards waste reduction, recycling and behavioral change to build sustainable future. Implemented first food waste to bio water technology, banning of Shark Fin at Sands China.
Syed is associated with professional affiliations such as SEAS, ASHRAE, IFMA, Smart Cities Network, BritCham, ISSP, SEAS, USGBC, SGBC, IFMA, Singapore Compact CSR, etc.
He is the first recipient of CSR Hotelier Award from The Stelliers Hotelier Award. He received ASHRAE Technology Award, Honorable Mention Award and Community Sustainability Awards. He has been featured in many magazines and interviews to recognize his contributions.
Actively involved in Talks/Panel Discussions, Guest Lecture to University Graduates and Participation in Conferences/Events. More than 50 papers been presented. Also published/presented papers in ASHRAE Journal, APCBE, ChinaGBC.
Syed completed Business Sustainability Management from Cambridge University (CISL) FinTech at SP Jain as well as Financial Management from Illinois University. Gold Medal recipient in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He is the alumni of SP Jain, CISL and Illinois University.
