Uma is a Senior HR Leader with experience in a wide gamut of HR areas over 3 decades. She has worked in IT, Manufacturing, Telecom, and FMCG space in companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Idea Cellular, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd, HIL, IBM, and Mars International India. She has been in leadership positions for the last 20 years.

Uma has had exposure in Public and Private sector environments, Indian and Multinational companies as well as Corporate and Industrial Relations roles. She has worked in multicultural and diverse environments in India and Abroad. Some key work she has done spans across talent management and leadership development in India and Emerging markets, women leadership programs, competency development, and Coaching leaders among others. Currently, Uma works as VP HR at Ashok Leyland Limited, A Hinduja company, and is a key member of the Leadership Team in the company. She also holds the honor of being the first woman Vice -President in Ashok Leyland Ltd in the 72 years of its existence.

Uma is a post-graduate from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and has completed the Global Advanced Management Program from ISB- Kellogg’s. Interacting with young professionals, particularly women, is a passion, and she mentors a few of them for their development formally. She has successfully led various organizations she has worked in to become the Best Employers in India. Uma has been awarded for outstanding contributions by Women Economic Forum and the Top 30 Women in HR in India Award by HRD Congress. She is very active in professional bodies and holds office in them as below:
