Ajith D Perera, Secretary General /CEO of Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL)
He started his career as a banker and later held senior management positions in the corporate sector in UK, UAE, Bangladesh and India and gained a sound knowledge about business dynamics in an international business environment.As secretary, general/CEO of FCCISL He represented FCCISL at many international forums and actively involved in SAARC trade promotion network funded by GIZ in Nepal. He also served as a member of the constitutional review committee (2015-2016) at SAARC Chamber of commerce and Industry located in Pakistan.
He initiated the Indo-Ceylon Economic Dialogue (ICE Dialogue) with the Federation of Indian Chambers of commerce and Industry (FICCI) in year 2015 for businesspersons from both countries to exchange their views on trade facilitation and bilateral issues related to Trade and investments. He was also the country focal point for Climate Technology Network and Finance Centre (CTNFC) in Bangkok.
He represented the Sri Lankan private sector at business forums of APTA organized by UNESCAP – Bangkok and played a lead role in establishing Asia Pacific Trade Agreement chamber of commerce and industry (APTA CCI) in collaboration with APTA secretariat at UNESCAP- Bangkok..
He was instrumental in setting up the work placed based skill development program (Skills for Inclusive growth) for tourist sector at FCCISL under the patronage of Australian Aid and the focal point for world Food program in Colombo.
He is the focal point of FCCISL at national Trade facilitation committee (NTFC) chaired by Sri Lanka customs and department of commerce of Sri Lanka. Member of EU-ITC working group on Tarde Policy.At present, he is the chief resource person at capacity development programs for regional chambers on leadership, governance and sustainability conducted by EU-Sri Lanka trade related assistance in collaboration with International Trade Centre (ITC) Geneva. Ajith D Perera has been awarded the MBA –marketing and Post Graduate Diploma in Administration by London college of Management and Information Technology (UK), Executive Diploma in Business Administration (University of Colombo) and Diploma in Credit Management (Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management)
He is a Senior Research Associate of Asia Pacific Daily –On line newspaper in Hong Kong and also a writer and speaker on Free Trade agreements. He had been a visiting lecturer at Institute of Personal Management (Sri Lanka) and Emirates College of Technology (UAE)
